3-Ingredient PB&J Yogurt
You can’t go wrong with the combination of peanut butter and jelly. As a kid, I loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and I still do! This week, I have a simple yogurt recipe for you with only 3 ingredients. Adding peanut butter and jelly to yogurt may sound strange, but trust me, it’s delicious! Many flavored yogurts are packed with sugar, so this is a great way to make plain yogurt taste great without the added sugar.
Ingredients
You really only need three ingredients for this recipe:
Plain yogurt
Peanut butter
Your favorite berries
Yogurt
I prefer Greek yogurt, but any variety will do, just make sure it’s plain to avoid added sugars. This is my favorite brand. I usually look for yogurt with some fat in it to make it more filling, but because this recipe also contains peanut butter (a great source of healthy fat), you could choose a nonfat yogurt for a lower calorie snack.
Peanut butter
When it comes to peanut butter, look for natural varieties that don’t have added sugar or oils. You can even try making your own from dry roasted peanuts!
Berries
Instead of using jelly or jam which usually contain added sugar, I prefer fresh or frozen berries. Whole berries are a great source of fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. My favorites are blackberries and strawberries, but there are lots of other varieties available!
I like to pick my own berries each summer, then freeze them to use all winter long. Read this post to learn how to freeze fresh berries. You’ll want to give your berries time to thaw if you decide to add frozen berries to your yogurt; you can either run the berries under cool water or stick them in a bowl in the fridge.
PB&J Yogurt
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
- 1/2 cup berries
Instructions
- Measure out ingredients into a bowl and mix until combined. Enjoy!
If you use fresh or frozen berries, natural peanut butter (without sugar), and plain yogurt, this recipe contains zero grams of added sugar! This recipe is also a great source of protein, healthy fat, and calcium. Most store-bought flavored varieties of yogurt are packed with added sugar (up to 15 grams in a single-serve container!), so this is a great alternative if you’re looking to reduce the amount of sugar in your diet.
