Welcome!

Kaitlin and Tucker

Hello and welcome to Wholesome Health! My name is Kaitlin and I’m glad you’re here. I’ve been thinking about starting this blog for a long time because I think nutrition is incredibly important, but there is an overwhelming amount of contradicting information out there about food and its positive or negative effect on your health. This is where I come in! Through this blog I hope to:

1.       Share reliable nutrition information: There is room for all types of food in a balanced diet. Severely restricting or labeling foods as “good” and “bad” doesn’t tend to work well for most people. Learning how to enjoy your favorite foods (in moderation!) can help you be successful in sustaining a balanced and healthy diet.

2.       Show that healthy eating doesn’t have to be bland, boring, or time consuming: Grocery store shelves are packed with processed foods, many that are marketed as healthy. We all lead busy lives and it’s easy to turn to these options, but I want to help you find alternatives that are just as easy to prepare, healthier for you and your family, and fun to make and eat!

3.      Provide you with delicious and healthy recipes: I love finding and creating new recipes, mainly those that focus on using simple, whole ingredients. I admit to having a major sweet tooth, so I’m always looking for healthier alternatives to my favorite desserts. Even something as simple as a spoonful of peanut butter with a few dark chocolate chips sprinkled on top can be an easy and healthier way to satisfy a craving for something sweet.

4.      Hear your comments and feedback: Are there any topics that you would like to learn more about?

New blogs will be posted on Thursdays starting next week with summer produce! My husband and I tend to get into a rut buying the same fruits and veggies each week, so this summer we joined a CSA! It is a great way for us to branch out, try new fruits and veggies, and find new ways to use all parts of a food. Hope to see you next week!
